Abstract

The aim of this paper is to identify the components of political culture of the Takfiri Militant Groups with emphasis on the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Sham). The Takfiri Militant Groups are extremist sunnite Muslims who have deviant ideas and beliefs about Islam. The violent and radical movement called ISIS, in a short time has managed to dominate parts of Syria and Iraq. Their leader called himself Caliph of Muslims and other Muslims have been asked to follow him. This paper discues about the components of political culture of the Takfiri Militant Groups especially ISIS. The method used in this study is documentary analysis. Therefore the references and resources related to this subject, have been studied and reviewed.These components are such as: the Caliphate, Jihad and Martyrdom. The findings suggest that the Caliphate is a major component of political culture of ISIS. They also look at Jihad as the means of fulfilling Caliphate and it uses in different ways against various Muslim opposition groups and non-Muslims to establish an Islamic state. According to their belifs, ISIS used terrorist operations to fulfill the Islamic Shariat and to establish an islamic state.
