Abstract
Climate change, one of the most significant challenges of the 21st century, has had profound impacts on regional security and stability in the Middle East.
The aim of this study is to investigate how climate change affects security in the Middle East and its role in exacerbating geopolitical crises, increasing tensions between countries and non-state groups, and social instability. The main question of the study is: How has climate change increased tensions and instability in the Middle East? The research hypothesis states that climate change has caused political and security instability in the region by affecting natural resources, increasing competition for water and energy resources, and exacerbating humanitarian crises.
The research method is qualitative with an analytical-explanatory approach. The data was also collected from library and internet sources.
The findings show that the decline in water resources, climate migrations, and competition over natural resources have contributed to the increase in conflicts and extremism in the Middle East.
The research results emphasize that multilateral cooperation, sustainable resource management, and the implementation of effective climate policies are essential to reduce the impacts of climate change on regional security.
