Abstract
Objective: Terrorism is one of the biggest problems of the modern world society. In recent years, the ISIS terrorist group, as an Islamist group with its unprecedented violence, has attracted more attention from the international community than other terrorist groups. Given the ineffectiveness of methods to combat terrorism and the uncontrolled spread of terrorist groups, this article seeks to identify the causes and factors of its emergence and adopt an appropriate and efficient approach to combat this terrorist group.
Method: The method of this research is descriptive-analytical, and the required information was collected using the library method and by referring to reliable sources, books and articles.
Findings: The findings of this research show that the ISIS terrorist group is a product of deprivation, discrimination and violence that has occurred as a result of recent wars in Southwest Asia, rather than originating from factors such as religious extremism or racist ideas, etc. Therefore, in the meantime, the role of religious extremism or racist ideas should be reduced to a tool for neutralizing conscience.
Conclusion: The overall conclusion implies that considering that ISIS is the result of deprivation, discrimination, and violence resulting from recent wars in Southwest Asia, therefore, in order to fundamentally combat terrorism, it is necessary to prevent the formation of a minority not through opposition and violence against it, but through "breaking the majority".
