Abstract

Given the substantial spread of Islamic fundamentalism in Pakistan in the past two decades, this article studies the roots of Taliban opposition against Shia. Our findings show that Taliban movement intellectually is fed from outside of Pakistan. The influence of Deobandism opinions on Taliban and the Saudi government's efforts to promote the radical Wahhabi in Pakistan are considered as roots for opposing the Taliban against the Shi'ites.
